The months before your baby arrives are a chapter all of their own, and most families wish they had more than a few phone photos of it. A maternity session is a calm hour to slow down and enjoy where you are, with no pressure to know how to pose and no stiff, over-styled setups.
We’ll choose a spot that feels like you, whether that’s the beach at golden hour, the bush or your own lounge room. We’ll guide you gently and keep the energy easy, so you can have a laugh with your partner (and the kids, if you’d like them in). You’ll end up with photos that look like you and feel like this season of your life, not like a catalogue.

They’re only this small once, and it goes faster than anyone tells you. A newborn session is a chance to keep the tiny details before they change: the fingers, the sleepy faces, the way your baby fits in your arms.
We keep it slow and unhurried, and we work around feeds, cuddles and the baby’s own rhythm. We primarily shoot our newborn sessions within our home studio in Mount Louisa, but we can bring a small selection of equipment to your own home if that works best for you and your family. Your baby’s comfort and safety come first, always. We will never put your baby in harms way or in a pose/position that you are uncomfortable with just for a photo, no matter how cute it is or how much it blows up on socials.

When should we book a maternity session?
Maternity sessions are best documented between 32 - 38 weeks with the optimum around the 36 week mark. From 30 weeks your baby belly would begin to pop. Between 32-38 weeks your baby belly will show nicely while still having good energy and mobility.
Where do you shoot?
We have set up a corner of our home in Mount Louisa to do our newborn sessions and other studio sessions, but we can also do sessions in your own home or a location around Townsville.
Some of our favourite places are Pallarenda, Shelly Beach, Saunders Beach, North Shore and Palmetum.
What if the baby arrives early or late?
We will keep in contact with you leading up to your due date to make sure that we get the news as soon as you guys are comfortable to share the news. Once we know baby has arrived we can alter the session if necessary. Early doesn't always mean we need to bring the session forward, and late doesn't always mean we need to push it back. See "When to book newborn session" for some more details.
Do you have any maternity gowns?
We have a selection of outfits that help elevate and show off your baby bump and pregnancy glow. Most are neutral in colour, but we do have a blue outfit and a few pink ones.
I try and keep things "simple" (for a lack of better words), so that the outfits don't outshine the reason we are there, to capture you and your unborn baby.
Do you print our photos?
We can absolutely print your photos, and we highly recommend it.
At this stage most of our families only want the digitals but we are working out a way to provide both the digital photos and a tangible print that you can hold. At the end of the day a print is the best way to connect with the moments that have gone by and feel the memories that they hold.
When should we book a newborn session?
Honestly, the sooner the better. Babies as early as 5 days old can generally yield a larger gallery as the tend to sleep longer and deeper, have less of a startle reflex so we can move them more, and have a bit more flexibility. The ideal age is between 5-14 days, as after 14 days babies tend to be a bit more alert and have start to acquire a startle reflex, making it a little harder (but not impossible) to shoot. We have successfully had 4-6 week olds in our studio for newborn sessions, we are only limited to what we can do by how big they have already grown.
Can the whole family be in the photos?
As I am here to document your journey, the way I see it your family is part of that journey.
We welcome the immediate family to join the session, and will provide you a variety of photos with everyone as best we can (provided participants are cooperative). The only time we limit the number of people within the sessions is our mini sessions when we release them.
What should we wear?
Something you feel comfortable in and feels like you. In saying that, avoid bright colours to avoid colour casting and avoid any logos or patterns that distract from what we are truly here for.
We can send you some simple tips once you’ve booked.
Is there anything we need to bring to our Newborn Session?
If you have something special you would like photographed within your session feel free to bring it along and we can incorporate it where we can. If you have an outfit for bub that you would like to have bub photographed in please have them in the outfit before you arrive. Also bring an extra bottle or 2 for feeds (just in case).
Do you share our photos online?
Only the best and only the ones that reflect our work, with your permission of course. If you do not want your photos shared we will flag them as DNS and solely keep them in our archives for you.
